This 6 inch vishnu sahasranamam style black stone Vishnu idol draws the eye first with its tall pointed crown and a halo-like disc behind the head. The figure stands upright on a lotus-petal base with four arms, two raised and two lowered. A conch rests in the raised upper hand on the right, a rounded object that may be a discus is held in the raised upper hand on the left, and a lotus bud is carried in the lower hand. The other lower hand is held open, palm down, beside a lidded pot. In tradition, Vishnu is known as the preserver of the world.

Standing Vishnu in Black Stone, 60 Inch

Our karigars shape this Vishnu from a single block of dark grey-black stone. They rough out the figure first, then cut the fine lines with small chisels, which is why the details stay sharp. Layered necklaces, armlets and bracelets are carved one band at a time. The dhoti has a decorated belt and a hanging front panel with delicate line work. Lighter chisel marks show through against the polished black surface, so every ornament stands out clearly. Behind the figure rises a tall arched panel carved with scrolls and flowers. Many shoppers miss the small carved pot with a lid beside the right leg, tucked low near the base. The idol stands 60 Inch tall, a size that holds a hall or a large puja room with ease. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth now and then to keep the polish clear. Under the steady glow of a diya, the chisel lines catch the light and the dark stone looks deep and calm.
