This black stone sitting ganesh idol shows Ganesha with an elephant head, his curled trunk turning to the left, seated under a tall ornate crown and a large carved halo of radiating lines. Two upper hands hold lotus buds, the lower right hand is raised with the palm open and facing out, and the lower left hand rests on the knee holding a rounded sweet-like offering. In tradition, Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles, the deity invoked before any new beginning.

Ganesha Seated in Polished Black Stone

Our karigars carve each piece by hand from a single block, then polish the surface until the dark stone turns glossy. Fine incised lines run across the necklace, the decorated belt and the bangles on all four wrists. Patterns are cut into the folded knees, and the figure rests on an oval base set above a lotus-petal pedestal. Look at the halo: every ray is cut separately, so it catches light in lines. It stands 17 Inch tall. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth to keep the polish bright. Placed on a shelf or beside a diya, the black stone picks up the flame in soft highlights along the crown and halo.

How Janijatra Picks Each Idol

We choose each piece for the clarity of its carving and the evenness of its finish. Our karigars can make a custom size or a matching piece on request. If you would like to know more about this idol, send us a message and we will gladly help.

The Art of Handcrafted Heritage

Every piece offered at Janijatra is an original work of art, handcrafted by skilled artisans who carry forward Odisha's centuries-old traditions of Pattachitra and Tala Patra Chitra. Each stroke is made by hand, making every creation distinct, soulful, and impossible to replicate exactly.

Made Exclusively for You

The artwork displayed in the image is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. As our creations are individually made, the exact piece shown may already be sold or may not be currently available. Should you place an order, a new piece will be specially handcrafted for you with the same care and detail.

Being entirely handmade, slight variations in colour, fine detailing, or finish may appear when compared to the original image. These subtle differences are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic, handcrafted art, and a mark of the human touch behind every piece.

Thoughtful Packaging & Safe Delivery

We understand that each artwork is precious. Every piece is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it reaches you in pristine condition. Fragile creations are given special attention, with secure wrapping and reinforced packaging designed to safeguard the artwork throughout its journey to your doorstep.

Caring for Your Artwork

To preserve the beauty of your piece for years to come, a few simple steps go a long way. For paintings on cloth and palm leaf, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, as these may affect the natural colours over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid using water or chemical cleaners. For traditional palm leaf (Tala Patra) works, store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the leaf.

Stone artworks are durable by nature and can be placed both indoors and outdoors, making them a beautiful addition to gardens, balconies, and open spaces as well as interior settings.
