This 6 feet hanuman bahuk statue draws the eye first with its tall ornate crown and the large round halo carved behind the head. The figure stands upright, the right hand gripping a gada that rests on the base, while the left hand is raised with the open palm facing outward. In tradition, Hanuman is honoured as the devoted servant of Ram, a figure of strength and steady devotion.

Our karigars shape this piece by hand from sandstone, chiselling the form block by block and finishing the surface with a matte touch. The stone carries a reddish-brown tone that looks warm and even. Look from the top down: a pointed crown, a small beard, wide-set eyes in a simple rounded face, and heavy layered necklaces with a long bead garland falling down the chest. Armlets and bangles circle the arms. At the waist sit a decorated band with hanging tassels and a draped cloth, and one cloth fold runs down the left side. The bare feet stand on a round carved base with petal-like patterns. A detail you may miss is the way the garland hangs in a long line over the necklaces, which gives the chest its depth. At 6 feet, this is a tall presence for a hall, a temple corner or a garden entrance. To clean it, brush off the dust with a soft dry cloth. Under the light of a diya, the carved lines throw soft shadows across the stone.
