This green stone ganesh idol shows Ganesha standing under a large round halo with a scalloped edge and fine radiating lines carved behind his head. His right front hand is raised with the palm open and facing out, the abhaya mudra of reassurance, and his upper right hand holds a small round carved object. In tradition, Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles, and he is invited first at the start of any new work.

Standing Ganesha in Grey-Green Stone

Our karigars carve this idol by hand from grey-green stone, working from the rough block to the crown, the ornaments and the fine borders. The finish is matte and slightly weathered, so the stone looks calm and old. The elephant head has large ears, a decorated crown and carved ornaments across the forehead. His trunk curls up toward the left and ends in a small rounded tip near the upper left hand. Four arms wear bangles and armlets, and a carved sacred thread runs across the chest. The round belly has a patterned band, and the legs are covered with decorated cloth. One leg is bent and lifted while the other stands firm on the base. Look near the lower left foot and you will find a small mouse carved there, easy to miss at first glance. The square stepped base has border patterns and a lotus-petal band. The idol stands 10 inch tall. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth to keep the stone clean. On a shelf or under the soft light of a diya, the carved lines of the halo catch the glow and cast gentle shadows.

How We Pick Each Idol

We choose each piece for the clarity of its carving and the calm in its face. Our karigars can make a custom size or a matching piece if you ask. Write to us whenever something about this idol is on your mind.

The Art of Handcrafted Heritage

Every piece offered at Janijatra is an original work of art, handcrafted by skilled artisans who carry forward Odisha's centuries-old traditions of Pattachitra and Tala Patra Chitra. Each stroke is made by hand, making every creation distinct, soulful, and impossible to replicate exactly.

Made Exclusively for You

The artwork displayed in the image is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. As our creations are individually made, the exact piece shown may already be sold or may not be currently available. Should you place an order, a new piece will be specially handcrafted for you with the same care and detail.

Being entirely handmade, slight variations in colour, fine detailing, or finish may appear when compared to the original image. These subtle differences are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic, handcrafted art, and a mark of the human touch behind every piece.

Thoughtful Packaging & Safe Delivery

We understand that each artwork is precious. Every piece is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it reaches you in pristine condition. Fragile creations are given special attention, with secure wrapping and reinforced packaging designed to safeguard the artwork throughout its journey to your doorstep.

Caring for Your Artwork

To preserve the beauty of your piece for years to come, a few simple steps go a long way. For paintings on cloth and palm leaf, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, as these may affect the natural colours over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid using water or chemical cleaners. For traditional palm leaf (Tala Patra) works, store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the leaf.

Stone artworks are durable by nature and can be placed both indoors and outdoors, making them a beautiful addition to gardens, balconies, and open spaces as well as interior settings.
