A black stone dancing ganesh with six arms and one knee lifted mid-step is the first thing you notice here, crowned with a tall tiered mukut above carved ears. Two sticks cross above the head, held by the upper hands, and the left middle hand rises with an open palm. A small pot sits in the right middle hand beside the curling trunk, while a twisted staff rests in the lower right. In tradition, Nritya Ganesha shows joy and the rhythm of life.

Dancing Ganesh Idol, Carved in Black Stone

Our karigars shape this murti by hand from dark black stone, cutting the form with chisels and then rubbing the surface to a smooth polish. Look closely at the six arms, each with carved bangles, and at the necklaces and chest band with fine detail. A draped cloth falls at the sides of the raised leg. The stepped base is carved with scrolls and lotus-like patterns. Standing 4 feet tall, it needs only a dry soft cloth to wipe off dust. In a hall or by a mandir wall, the polish picks up the glow of a diya and the dancing stance draws every eye. One detail is easy to miss: the lower left hand hangs open at the side, a relaxed gesture that balances the busy upper hands.

The Art of Handcrafted Heritage

Every piece offered at Janijatra is an original work of art, handcrafted by skilled artisans who carry forward Odisha's centuries-old traditions of Pattachitra and Tala Patra Chitra. Each stroke is made by hand, making every creation distinct, soulful, and impossible to replicate exactly.

Made Exclusively for You

The artwork displayed in the image is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. As our creations are individually made, the exact piece shown may already be sold or may not be currently available. Should you place an order, a new piece will be specially handcrafted for you with the same care and detail.

Being entirely handmade, slight variations in colour, fine detailing, or finish may appear when compared to the original image. These subtle differences are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic, handcrafted art, and a mark of the human touch behind every piece.

Thoughtful Packaging & Safe Delivery

We understand that each artwork is precious. Every piece is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it reaches you in pristine condition. Fragile creations are given special attention, with secure wrapping and reinforced packaging designed to safeguard the artwork throughout its journey to your doorstep.

Caring for Your Artwork

To preserve the beauty of your piece for years to come, a few simple steps go a long way. For paintings on cloth and palm leaf, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, as these may affect the natural colours over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid using water or chemical cleaners. For traditional palm leaf (Tala Patra) works, store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the leaf.

Stone artworks are durable by nature and can be placed both indoors and outdoors, making them a beautiful addition to gardens, balconies, and open spaces as well as interior settings.
