His right hand is raised with the palm open and facing forward, the abhaya mudra of reassurance, while his lowered left hand grips a gada resting on the ground. In tradition, Hanuman is honoured as the devoted servant of Lord Ram, remembered for strength and steady loyalty.

Our karigars carve this murti by hand from a single black stone, working slowly with chisels and then polishing it until the surface turns glossy. The crown is ornate, with fine carved detail, and the vanar face has a carved expression. Layered beaded necklaces and chains fall across the chest, a decorated belt circles the waist, and armbands, bracelets and anklets mark the limbs. Look at the lower garment and you will notice the ornamental carving that continues below the belt, easy to miss at first glance. Standing 48 inch tall on an oval base with stepped edges, it holds a room with a calm, solid presence. In a hall, or beside a lit diya, the polish picks up the light in soft streaks. To care for it, wipe gently with a dry soft cloth.
