The glossy black polish of this hanuman bahuk idol catches the eye first, with a tall pointed crown rising above a large carved halo. Hanuman stands upright and barefoot, his right hand gripping a ribbed mace (gada) planted on the ground, his left hand raised open with the palm facing forward. In tradition, Hanuman stands for strength, devotion and fearless service to Lord Ram.
The Hanuman Idol, Made in Black Stone
Our karigars shape each murti by hand from a single block of black stone, chiselling the form first and then carving the fine lines before polishing it to a deep shine. The halo behind the head is cut with petal-like lines, and the crown carries its own patterns. The face has a long muzzle and a mark on the forehead. Layered necklaces and carved ornaments cover the chest, with armbands on both upper arms and anklets on both feet. The waistband is carved too, and the loincloth falls in a decorated panel at the centre. A detail you may miss is the ribbed round head of the mace, which has its own raised carving. At 6 feet tall, the figure stands on a low oval base, and a soft dry cloth keeps the polish bright. Placed in a hall or a large mandir room, it shines under a diya, with the light running along the crown and halo.

The Art of Handcrafted Heritage
Every piece offered at Janijatra is an original work of art, handcrafted by skilled artisans who carry forward Odisha's centuries-old traditions of Pattachitra and Tala Patra Chitra. Each stroke is made by hand, making every creation distinct, soulful, and impossible to replicate exactly.
Made Exclusively for You
The artwork displayed in the image is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. As our creations are individually made, the exact piece shown may already be sold or may not be currently available. Should you place an order, a new piece will be specially handcrafted for you with the same care and detail.
Being entirely handmade, slight variations in colour, fine detailing, or finish may appear when compared to the original image. These subtle differences are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic, handcrafted art, and a mark of the human touch behind every piece.
Thoughtful Packaging & Safe Delivery
We understand that each artwork is precious. Every piece is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it reaches you in pristine condition. Fragile creations are given special attention, with secure wrapping and reinforced packaging designed to safeguard the artwork throughout its journey to your doorstep.
Caring for Your Artwork
To preserve the beauty of your piece for years to come, a few simple steps go a long way. For paintings on cloth and palm leaf, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, as these may affect the natural colours over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid using water or chemical cleaners. For traditional palm leaf (Tala Patra) works, store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the leaf.
Stone artworks are durable by nature and can be placed both indoors and outdoors, making them a beautiful addition to gardens, balconies, and open spaces as well as interior settings.
