This stone ganesh idol shows Ganesha seated on a carved lotus-petal base, with a large rounded halo-like arch carved behind his head. Four arms are shown. The right front hand is raised with the palm open and facing out, while the left front hand holds a small round bowl-like object near the curve of the trunk. Ganesha is known in tradition as the remover of obstacles and the lord of beginnings, which is why he is placed first in homes and at doorways.

Seated Ganesha in Polished Black Stone

Our karigars shape the stone slowly, first roughing out the form and then carving the fine work by hand. The finish is dark black and polished, and the carving shows clearly against it. He sits with one leg folded, under a tall crown with a patterned band across the forehead. Layered necklaces fall over the chest and an ornamented belt crosses the belly. A single tusk is visible. The upper hands are raised beside the head and each holds an object. At 48 Inch, the idol stands as a grand murti and can anchor a prayer hall, an entrance or a wide living room. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth to keep the polish clear. Under the light of a diya, the black surface glows softly and the carved lines catch the flame. A small figure is carved on the front of the base, easy to miss from a distance, and worth a closer look when you stand near.

How We Choose Each Piece

At Janijatra, we choose each piece by looking closely at the carving and the finish before it is listed. Our karigars can also make a custom size or a matching piece if you need one. Message us with any question about this idol.

The Art of Handcrafted Heritage

Every piece offered at Janijatra is an original work of art, handcrafted by skilled artisans who carry forward Odisha's centuries-old traditions of Pattachitra and Tala Patra Chitra. Each stroke is made by hand, making every creation distinct, soulful, and impossible to replicate exactly.

Made Exclusively for You

The artwork displayed in the image is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. As our creations are individually made, the exact piece shown may already be sold or may not be currently available. Should you place an order, a new piece will be specially handcrafted for you with the same care and detail.

Being entirely handmade, slight variations in colour, fine detailing, or finish may appear when compared to the original image. These subtle differences are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic, handcrafted art, and a mark of the human touch behind every piece.

Thoughtful Packaging & Safe Delivery

We understand that each artwork is precious. Every piece is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it reaches you in pristine condition. Fragile creations are given special attention, with secure wrapping and reinforced packaging designed to safeguard the artwork throughout its journey to your doorstep.

Caring for Your Artwork

To preserve the beauty of your piece for years to come, a few simple steps go a long way. For paintings on cloth and palm leaf, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, as these may affect the natural colours over time. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid using water or chemical cleaners. For traditional palm leaf (Tala Patra) works, store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the leaf.

Stone artworks are durable by nature and can be placed both indoors and outdoors, making them a beautiful addition to gardens, balconies, and open spaces as well as interior settings.
